On the 11th November, 2021 we were proud to receive advice from the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP - Minister for Regional Development in regards to our grant application for the Ride High Country Round Two. Valley View Caravan Park was 1 of 13 applicants lucky enough to be approved for our King Valley Ride, Rest & Revive project.
This funding will transform Valley View Caravan Park into a cycle-friendly holiday destination to offer cyclists even more reason to visit the King Valley and north east Victoria.
Key activities include purchasing three cabins and four eco-friendly glamping pods and installing infrastructure to support cycle tourists. A purpose-built shed will provide secure bike storage with bike hanging racks protected from the weather. Additionally, the project will install an automated bike wash, a service area with security lighting, bike stands for each of the cabins and pods, an an e-bike charging area.
This project has the potential to significantly increase cycle tourism in the King Valley and will have a positive flow-on impact on businesses across the region.
This funding support will allow Whitfield to 'pedal ahead'; cyclists can base themselves at Valley View Caravan Park to ride the King Valley or the longer rides to the Alpine Valley or Mansfield and can visit the many wineries and gourmet food attractions along the way. When they return from their ride, cycle tourists and their families and friends will be encouraged to share their tourism spend with the town's other small businesses and attractions, all within walking distance, such as the Mountain View Hotel, Pizzini Wines, Dal Zotto Wines, and A Tavola Cooking School.
King Valley Ride, Rest and Revive project is expected to be completed June 2023.
