King Valley Officially One of the Best Grey Nomad Destinations
The Whitfield community is celebrating after one of their caravan parks was named
as a finalist in the national Grey Nomad Awards.
The Valley View Caravan Park has been shortlisted in the 2021 Best Grey Nomad Small
Caravan Park category after proving to tourism leaders that it provided an exceptional experience for visitors aged over 50.
Awards Director, Kim Morgan, said the Grey Nomad Awards shine a light on regional
Australia by rewarding organisations and destinations that cater in an exemplary way to mature age visitors.
“In this way, the Awards are fostering a better lifestyle for over 50s by providing verified
information that will guide their decisions on where to travel safely in 2022, where to stay
and what to experience along the way,” she said.
She said that the ongoing uncertainty that faced tourism businesses throughout last year
made it especially challenging for them to face each day with confidence and the
unwavering customer focus that is necessary to be recognised in these Grey Nomad Awards
“This means we especially want to acknowledge the tremendous commitment that the
Valley View Caravan Park and other finalists demonstrated this past year,” Ms Morgan said.
The Grey Nomad Awards are judged by mature-age tourism professionals, some of whom
have experienced the grey nomad lifestyle personally, adding weight to the Valley View
Caravan Park’s success as a finalist.
Valley View Caravan Park is located in the township of Whitfield in the heart of the King
Valley, north-east Victoria. The Park offers caravan and camping in the peaceful surrounds
of the Upper King Valley near the foothills of the Alpine National Park, surrounded by
mountains and rivers, and home to the spectacular Lake William Hovell.
The pet-friendly Valley View Caravan Park has accommodation to suit all grey nomads,
including large grassy sites for RVs and vans of all sizes plus a large camping area. There are also new deluxe cabins and funky furnished vans.
The judges congratulated the Valley View Caravan Park on a successful year despite the
significant hurdles, saying “2021 has obviously been challenging with significant business
disruption, and we are so impressed that the team chose to turn this into an opportunity by building three new deluxe cabins, a new BBQ area and developing a new website.”.
Winners in all 11 categories will be announced on Friday 4 March 2022 during an online celebration.
