We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news — Valley View Caravan Park has been named a finalist in the 2026 Caravan & Residential Parks Victoria - Bob & Shirley Murray Community Partnership Award!
This award recognises a member tourist, mixed-use or residential park that has made a significant contribution to its local community — going beyond everyday business operations to strengthen the people, groups and initiatives that help their region thrive.
For us, being a finalist is particularly meaningful because community has always been at the heart of Valley View Caravan Park.
More Than a Caravan Park
Since taking over Valley View Caravan Park in 2014, we’ve been fortunate to become part of the wonderful King Valley community.
We believe that operating a tourism business in a regional area comes with a responsibility to give back, support local organisations and help create a thriving community for both residents and visitors.
Whether it’s sponsoring local sporting clubs, supporting community fundraising, promoting local businesses or getting behind initiatives that improve tourism and recreation opportunities in the King Valley, we’re passionate about playing our part.
Supporting Local Sport
Sport is such an important part of regional communities, bringing people together, creating connections and providing opportunities for all ages.
Valley View Caravan Park is proud to support local sporting organisations, including King Valley United Football & Netball Club and Whitfield Golf Club.
We know that local clubs rely heavily on volunteers, sponsors and community support to keep their doors open and their teams on the field. We’re proud to contribute wherever we can and help these organisations continue to provide valuable opportunities for the community.
Supporting Our Local Community
Over the years, we’ve also supported community fundraising initiatives and local causes.
One of our favourite traditions has been our annual Easter Pancake Breakfast and raffle, which brings guests and locals together while raising money for community causes.
Our Easter fundraising has raised more than $14,761 over the past 11 years, including $1,406 from our 2026 Easter fundraiser.
For us, it’s not simply about the amount raised. It’s about creating opportunities for our guests to connect with the local community and encouraging visitors to become part of the place they are visiting.
Advocating for Our Region
Our commitment to community extends beyond financial support.
We’re passionate advocates for the King Valley and believe that improving tourism infrastructure and recreational opportunities benefits everyone — residents, local businesses and visitors alike.
We have been actively involved in advocating for projects such as the Whitfield–Cheshunt Trail, the extension of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail towards Whitfield, and improvements to the Wangaratta–Whitfield Road.
Projects like these have the potential to encourage more visitors to explore the region, support local businesses and create new opportunities for our community.
As a cycle-friendly accommodation provider, we’ve also invested in facilities to encourage visitors to explore the King Valley by bike, helping connect our guests with local wineries, food producers, cafes and attractions.
Working Together to Promote the King Valley
We believe that a strong tourism industry is built through collaboration.
We’re proud to be involved with the King Valley Tourism Association and to work alongside local tourism businesses, community organisations and regional tourism bodies.
We regularly encourage our guests to explore beyond the park — visiting our wineries, enjoying local produce, discovering walking and cycling trails, dining at local venues and experiencing everything the King Valley has to offer.
When our visitors spend locally, it helps support the many small businesses and families who make our region so special.
Giving Visitors a Reason to Stay Longer
We also see our role as helping visitors discover the King Valley and encouraging them to stay, explore and return.
From our Valley View Shuttle Bus to our cycling facilities and local tourism information, we make it easier for guests to experience the region.
We love nothing more than helping a guest discover a local winery, recommending a favourite café, pointing them towards a walking trail or suggesting somewhere special to watch the sunset.
Those conversations might seem like small things, but they help create memorable experiences — and hopefully turn first-time visitors into returning guests and advocates for the King Valley.
Community Is What Makes the King Valley Special
The King Valley is a wonderful place to live, work and visit because of its people.
It’s the volunteers, sporting clubs, farmers, winemakers, hospitality businesses, community groups and local families who give the region its character.
We’re incredibly grateful to be part of that community.

We may be a small caravan park, but we believe every business can make a difference.
